Please excuse me if it's a dumb question, but.. does Dutra sell the mainolds or just the info to make your own? What is the cost? I'm guessing there is debate over which is better, his or hedders. I kind of like his idea and am leaning that way over trying to locate hedders. Any contact info would be appreciated, thanks. deforge909@yahoo.com |

There are several options, all available for purchase from Doug. You can buy a set of Dutra Duals (new front-3 casting, cut and capped rear half of stock casting serving the rear 3 cylinders and retaining manifold heat and automatic choke provisions). You can buy a set of "Dual Dutra Duals" (new front-3 and rear-3 castings, no provisions for manifold heat or automatic choke). You can buy just the new front-3 casting and cut/cap your own stock manifold for the rear 3. His page is here. For most street usage, the regular Dutra Dual option (new front-3 casting, cut and capped rear half of stock casting) is best. For hairier higher-output engines, Dual Dutra Duals. For all-out race machines, headers. There is no online shopping cart or anything — contact him via private message here on the board via the link provided earlier in this thread. |

Just a curiousity... does the rear manifold with heat provisions still serve other brand manifolds like Offy or Clifford? Or do you need the Dual Duals if you have a 4bbl? |

Offy intakes have provision for manifold heat hookup just like stock intake, so regular Dutra Duals are "Yes". Clifford intakes (all of them, as far as I know) have no provision for manifold heat hookup, so regular Dutra Duals are "No". In that case you'd use DDDs or do additional cut-and-cap work on the stock rear half to eliminate the heat tower. |

welcome to the site Mr Imperial Cruiser Here's some info from a guy who learned how to do these super six conversions through trial and error. This site is hugely helpful Sometimes though, if you're not sure of all the terminology, it gets confusing. Kind of like trying to do algebra and not knowing your fractions. So here quickly is what i learned when i began. I tried both an old offy 4bl intake and the mopar super six (2bl intake). I found in the end, there was no significant difference i could notice as a daily driver. Remember the slight Horse power and performance gains you get from a single improvement really only make a difference you can feel if you modify and improve all the other parts of your engine. sooo, in regards to your super six set up and the Dutra Dual exhausts, here is what i found. All the parts for a super six set up can be readily found. A 2bl carb is a good improvement for your slant six especially when combined with dual exhaust, a new cam, a good choke, and well-adjusted timing and tappet lash. you will be happy with having made the switch and doing the work yourself. I did not miss the 4brl carb at all Dutra Dual exhaust: if you get just the dutra dual casting by itself, its easy to modify your existing exhaust manifold to give you the other half of your "dual exhaust". Basically you are cutting it in half with a metal cutting blade on your sawzall and then welding the open cut shut. My muffler shop did it for 10 dollars. Look carefully at the pictures on this site so you know where to make the cut. once you have your super six set up with dual-exhaust installed, the car will sound fun and run well with a bit more pickup than you had before. Remember, its still a slant six and you aren't trying to tweak it for Talledega. There are lots of options on how to spend your money when fixing up your slant six engine. The best advice anyone ever gave me on this site, was not to sweat all the little options. Just get the car running well and enjoy it!
