I own a 71 dart swinger, theres a few elec. problems. first i cant get the 4-ways to work, the headlights and taillights seem to work when they want to(i think its in the switch on the dash), and when my brake pedal is stationary the brake lights stay on when car is off. ive been putting a water bottle underneath to make them stay off.
Where would be the best place to start fixing these problems? i was trying to avoid a COMPLETE rewiring. im not sure whats involved in running new wires or anything. any help would be appreciated. thank you.

Welcome on the board. Do yourself a large, inexpensive favour and go buy these three books as quickly as you can.

It sounds as if your car needs a new hazard flasher (separate from the turn signal flasher, tho both are mounted in spring-clip holders under the dashboard), a new brake light switch, and a new headlamp switch. None of these is very difficult to install, and all can be had rather easily. Try for NAPA Echlin or Standard-BlueStreak switches, and pick up two Ideal EL-12C flashers (one for the turn signal and one for the hazards).
