I just crawled under my volare to investigate an odd, intermittent clank that seemed to be coming from the area around the transmission as well as the difficult gear selection (especially N->1st) that I've been experiencing.

Isn't the tailshaft of the 833 OD supposed to be bolted to the transmission support member? I can literally reach up and slide the driveshaft+tranny about a half an inch in either direction. I've attached a picture of where I suspect a couple of important bolts have worked loose.

I have been finding with the Hpak duster it has enough torque that it will hammer the mount and I have lost the bolts at one point in time (the car feels like the clutch is going out/spongy)...I now loc-tite those bolts, but I noticed I might have to redrill/thread the bolt holes as the hammering 'waddles' out the aluminum and the bolts no longer grip right...

Thanks for the tips--the clutch had been getting chattery over the past few months, and replacing the missing anchor bolts has solved that, the shifting problems, and that disturbing clank :D I wonder how long they've been missing...

Whenever I build a trans for a non-stock MOPAR, I install "helicoils" in those holes. Also, if an auto trans, with a floor shifer conversion that bolts the bracket to the pan bolts, they get helicoils.
