I rebuilt my carb about a month ago, and about 1 week ago it started to spudder and run really bad when I would push the accelerator pedal. So first thing I thought is the accelerator pump wasn't working properly. Looked down the throat of the carb, pumped the throttle and no fuel went into the throat. Bingo.. something was fishy there. So I pulled the top of the carb off and checked the accelerator pump and sure enough the boot was ripped. Now my question is... Is this a common thing to happen after 1 month after a rebuild? Or do you think I might have not installed it correctly and it ripped as I was putting it in? I'm just curious what you guys think. Weird thing was it was running great after I got it rebuilt, and like I said.. About a week ago it started acting up. Thanks.

Also.. I am working on getting my HEI conversion on the way. I have a Chevy coil out of an 88 Chevy Winabego with a 350 small block that I pulled the engine out of for a build up project me and my boss are working on. Anyways, the whole coil has a total of 2 plugs (4 wires). Can I use this coil on my HEI project for my d150 or would it just cause more problems than help?

It is not common for an accelerator pump cup to rip unless somethign is wrong. Try replacing the accelerator pump cup and going from there.

Well, I've already ordered a new cup for it.. none of the parts stores had it in stock so I have to wait to get it. It gets me back and fourth from work for now, so I'm not too worried.. Just cant give it gas. 8) . Good thing its only about 1 minute from my house :lol:

Why not walk or ride a bike? You could save a bunch on gas money and insurance.

I used to ride a bicycle to and from work every day, rain or shine, and it was a lot of fun. It was 5 miles each way, and with traffic being what it was, I could get there in about the same time. Parking was a breeze!

I'd ride a bike to work now, except now my right foot is plastic and stainless steel and I have to learn how to ride one again.

As for the original topic, I have had Holley 1945s before and NEVER got one to run right. If the replacement cup doesn't work, give Dan a PM. He has a stash of good carbs; bolt on and go. Toss the 1945 and get a 1920.

well, I got (my) carb to run good before the accelerator cup ripped. Not sure though. Maybe i should get a 1920. I PM'd dan anyways

That coil will work well for HEI. See HEI upgrade thread for info.

is there another pdf that has better pictures? I read http://u225.torque.net/cars/SL6/article ... l_2bbl.pdf, but its really hard to make out the pictures
