I have narrowed it down to one of 2 cars 62 valiant push button auto, or 66 dart gt. The Dart is an original 4 speed v8 car. Now with slant 6.

Could someone please give me the pro's and con's of building either of these cars as I will purchase one of the 2 very soon. If it matters I prefer the 62 body style and it is a little less expensive to purchase. I know the 62 is lighter. The 66 has a 4 speed manual and 8 3/4 rear end in it so..... help me choose please.

go with the 66 an 8 3/4 is a much needed part for a drag racer---- what is the price difference between the 2?
Not many of either car at the strips nowadays---
Any pics of the cars ? Lawrence

both cars are nearly rust free. the 66 Dart is a west coast car and the 62 I go look at friday is susposed to be rust free and looks to be from the pictures. the asking price for the Dart is 800 more than the valiant. I do like the 4 speed bucket seats console 8 3/4 and red on black car. however the extra cost extra weight and inland shifter are all cons for me.

Then I start to think I might be ready for an automatic the lighter weight will help the et's the 904 is a fine transmission and I really love the look of the 62 valient. What is the best way to post pictures the the forum. Should I use something like photo bucket and just cut and paste the link?

As the owner of a 62 Valaint drag car......I say go w/ the 62.LOL
Get the one yoiu like the best....heck, just figure out the one w/ the most parts on it that are usable....like the rearend, guages, manual steering.least to convert it to your liking.

 Do what a coward like me would do: buy them both and then your delicate emotional status won't have to deal with having left one behind :D

If I sell my subaru powered super beetle I will do just that. I would love to buy both cars. The bug is on ebay now at way less than it cost to build. You couldn't buy the engine and trans for what I'm selling the complete disc brake, programmable ems stinger ecm, aluminum radiator sway away suspension equiped car for. I could part it out but theese 2 cars won't last long. I can't wait I go to see the 62 tomorrow.

I looked at the 62 and was rougher than I thought. I think I'm going with the 66 if it's still available when I get home.

I am not sure the 62 has better aero with the wide nose, dual headlights and big grill. There is a lot of fiberglass available for the 66 and practically none for the 62.I like the 62 better but i would go with the 66. I have giving up for now on my 64,I have it down to 2200 including cage without driver, but i want to build one under 2000 with driver. May have to go with a roadster or daytona body.

Well it looks like the 66 is going to be gone by the time I get back. So I guess it's back to the hunt. My bug sold so I have the cash to buy something now I'm just out of town untill friday. I looked at the 65 and it was not awfull if I could get fiberglass front fenders for it I could make it work. i don't know
