http://www.jegs.com/p/Mr-Gasket/Mr-Gask ... 3/10002/-1 Anyone use this item before? I'm looking at 720-97. I have a 1" carb spacer which I want to pull because the air cleaner *barely* fits-- I'd like to make it more certain. I'm thinking of ordering 2 of these dissipators (1/4" tall each), and using a full one and half of the other to retain some of the spacer effect. Is this adviseable or is there something I'm not thinking about? Heck I'd just stack both of them fully if you fellas think it would work like a spacer, I'd still be cutting a half inch of carb height out of the situation. plmk if I'm forgetting something that would make this idea not work. |

I had one of those on a 383. It didn't work. |

I have one on my 340. It doesn't leak, anyhow. I just was sent a Mr. Gasket rear main seal for my 340, which is marked 360 on the package. It is of a larger diameter, and can't be installed with crank in place. I plan to avoid Mr. Gasket if I see him again. |

Mr Gasket makes the Ultra Seal intake gaskets for the small blocks, excellent stuff! |

OK, maybe they just sent me the wrong one. |

So ultimately, does anyone think stacking two of those would create the same effect as a 1/2" spacer? Or should I just not bother and go with a 1/2" spacer? |

Just a wood or phenolic spacer.......... aluminum spacer will heat things up. |

Yea, it's an aluminum 1" spacer I'd be pulling, for heat and height issues. I'll just go with a wood or phenolic spacer instead of that Mr Gasket doohickey, thx |

I'd say do it-- if your goal is to try and lower the carb height. The gasket sealing should not be a problem. With those choices it looks like you can adjust the carb height a little. Lawrence |
