Hi i'm new to the club. I have been a Mopar guy for 30 yrs. I have owned mostly fast backs and Imperials. Although I have had 6 cyl Darts.

I bought my Daughter a 1967 Coronet 440 slant 6. It's spun a rod, need an Engine! Thinking about Kragens!
Thanks!

Welcome on the board. Don't buy a "remanufactured" engine (or any other working component) from Kragen or any other Davey Do-It-Yerselfer auto parts store. They are trash, despite the fancy (useless) warranty. You're much better to find and install a good used engine or find a rebuildable engine and have it reworked by a good, reputable machine shop. Any slant-6 engine can easily be made to work in your '67, you just swap on the original oil pan and oil pickup pipe/strainer, and if you use a '68 or later engine you need the torque converter adaptor ring from Pat Blais ( tflitepatty@verizon.net ). Check www.car-part.com for engines in your area. Searching '67 Coronet will find all the '60-'67 slant-6s. Searching '73 Dart will find the next newer group. Searching '82 Dodge Truck D100 will find the newest group. Ask more questions!

castyman,

Don't be pressured. I was working 12 plus hour days plus a 4 hour commute and had my oil changed at a Valvoline Lube shop and the filter was faulty and delaminated inside and would not by-pass oil. 5:00 am on the way to work it failed about 20 miles into my 64 mile commute and starved the engine of oil. Wiped out two rods #1 and #2 and smoked the bearings.....

I was having the same kind of thoughts as you. Once I came to my senses, I pulled the motor and sent it out for various upgrades listed below. Thanks to the folks on this site with some their great advice I built a super motor for torque and mileage. It's been two years and 55,000 miles ago now. I look back and it was the best thing I could have done even though I had little extra time. By doing some of the work myself I saved alot. So hang in there.

That is a pretty sweet car you have. Fix it up!

Click on the red link below and you can take a look at mine. Getting her ready for some paint. :D :D :D
