After using two other carburetors, cleaning all the plugs, replacing the coil and voltage regulator as well as checking for any vacuum leaks, my Duster continues to idle for a view seconds then stalls out. It will also die if I attempt to put it into gear. Would the heat riser have anything to do with this issue? I would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions so I can get my Duster on the road again.

are you sure youre getting gas? i had issues when i first got my dart going, something was getting sucked up and plugging things up, it would fall when shut off and then get sucked back up after letting in a little gas, might be something as simple as a fuel filter, not sure what that would have to do with it cutting out in gear either, other then by the time you get there it runs out of gas maybe? just a possibility i guess...

Does it do it in neutral as well as in park?

Sometimes the neutral safety switch can go bad. Hopefully you have good fuel flow, and good spark are confirmed.

How many volts are you seeing at the coil?

The neutral safety switch cannot make the engine stall. It is a part of the starter motor control circuit. All it can do is determine whether or not the engine will crank when the key is turned to "Start".

The heat riser valve has nothing to do with the problem.

Start-then-stall is usually fuel-related. What is the nature and history of these two "other" carburetors tried? How long has the car been sitting? How likely is it that the fuel tank is full of crud and/or water, and/or that the fuel filter is clogged?
