What would you guys estimate the cc's to be for the head chamber volume on a stock head for a 225 six? |

(55 to as much as 60) I feel that a lot of the difference is based on the type of valve used. (dished vs flat face and how deep the seat is) The last SL6 head I milled .100 and put large "flat faced" O/S valves into, ended-up at 39 CCs. Your going to have to cc the heads pretty simple to do, Get a cd case use the cover, make to holes one to fill and one for air, use vasoline to seal it around the chamber, buy a cc syringe use coolant to fill the chamber up see how many ccs you have them start milling from there. But if your heads are stock .100 cut will wake your motor up, depending on your year block and how low the piston is at at tdc. Mine is a cast crank 50 pounds lighter than other years, it's a 1979 block piston was .140 in the hole, you can measure the piston height buy using feeling gauges stacked up. with a cut of .100 i went from 7:8 CR to 9.1C:R I run 91 octane California. Compression ratio with differ from year to years , but it's safe to say if your head is stock .100 cut will up CR gain power and mileage and you will be able to use stock push rods. |

I milled my head .070" and wound up at 47.5cc |

Musta been. Of course, the exh valves were badly sunk so that further lowered volume. In addition to milling, the new valves and seats also helped reduce the volume. All I know is I am right at 9.0:1 CR now which will allow my 225 to scream with an untold fury. |
