I have installed a trunk mounted battery in my 60 Valiant and was wondering if I need to install some sort of circuit breaker or big fuse back at the battery connection. The reason I ask this is that 60-61 Valiants do not have a fuse box but instead several fusable links and one glass fuse(to the radio) and dont want the car or its occupants to burn down should somthing bad happen.I do have the positive cable well insulated and secure and it reads 14.2 at the battery so it is charging well, just want a some extra prtection. Thanks in advance HyperValiant |

Yep, you definitely want a suitable main circuit protector (big fuse) in the positive battery cable, right close to the battery. You may or may not want to install a solenoid-activated bypass activated by the starter circuit, depending on your philosophy. Also, there were no fusible links on Mopars pre-'64. One or two glass fuses on a '60 Valiant from the factory, but that's it. |
