Because their customer service is a crapshoot at best. Unfortunately, they are the only place to get headers for an early A body, and they do make a great intake manifold.

Zilla, try my Hurricane (Remember it is first gen and it may need a carb turn and a plenum split, my opinion) but it may also kick some Clifford a$$!

How about I lend you the intake(be careful this is my highest price slant item so far) and you can do some racing research and I can do an article for the SSRN.I will pen the article. How about a bit of a bet?

If I loose and you find the Clifford a better intake- you will buy me a Motorhead CD, I will listen - you know me.

If I win I will buy you a Rush CD and you will have to listen.... once to each track before you donate it to Good Will. I know you have steak knives at home!

Talk to me Big D!

I'm guessing a comparison between a Hurricane and a Clifford would be apples to banana's. I'm sure the Hurricane will work better down low and mid range, whereas the Clifford will be lazy down low but really pick up in the upper range.

I would be interested in testing them whenever I get a running Slant car again though. :D

Yeah, it's like squaring off Rush's "Red Barchetta" against Lemme's "Riding with the driver".... The Hurricane will lie between the "window" of the shorty clifford and the long ram Hyperpak...I already can tell the difference between the Hyperpak and running the offy... (the offy has a variety of "rpm range" and will wind right up, but it lacks that long ram "grunt"/low end/mid range torque the long runners give...)

I'll probably be grabbing a hurricane intake for a future street build I have in mind...

Would be nice to see a numbers comparison so people can match their "personality"/build to the intake....

D.I. I like that word personality! Zilla if you would like to borrow my hurricane for a season it is available. Love to see how this works out! Frank I would love to hear of your results. DartMan sorry to hijack your thread!

James buy a guitar! :D Been there done that. Learn yo-self! Learn some MotorHead and then try to play some Rush.

Ted Nugent is not A fan of MotorHead and I am I fan of Ted just cause he said it! Never mind that I bought a used copy of Double Live Gonzo when in sixth grade!

What exactly is wrong with the customer service?

You call up, they talk you into buying some parts... 4 months later you still don't have the part and you call them back...they say "Yeah,we are still waiting for a few more orders so we can make a run of parts, that one isn't in stock any more."... or they talk you into a cam... you go to install it in your solid lifter motor to find it's a hydraulic lifter cmshaft...

D. I. is right! I have heard that they charge your credit card and get their money up front while you wait and wait and wait. I have talked to them 4 times over the past couple of years about a hyper pak intake. Every time I call I get all kinds of differing information. You can actually hear their pants bursting into flames as they are talking to you!

They do just like Kenne-Bell used to do with Buick parts. They stock virtually nothing but the fast movers. You want something they do not stock, they take your order, and will not fill it until they get enough orders to have a run made up. They will charge your credit card, and won't tell you what they are really doing. You may get your parts in 2 weeks, or maybe 6 months. They will always have some BS excuse as to why the part hasn't arrived yet, even though your card has been charged.

We broke Bell of that habit by finding out who was actually making his parts.

Like I said, there are only 2 things Clifford sells that you can not get elsewhere, or can't buy a better one of. Other than that you can buy whatever they sell elsewhere, usually better and/or cheaper.
