Post subject:  Infineon Fun

First off, MANY THANKS to SERGIO, who set this up. Instead of racing with other Trophy cars, we were able to race as our own team, competing only against each other.

Here is the finished ladder:

<a href="http://s303.photobucket.com/albums/nn133/bttfman/?action=view&current=FINISHEDLADDER.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn133/bttfman/FINISHEDLADDER.jpg" border="0" alt="FINISHED LADDER"></a>

Yep, Glen Terry won, but it wasn't easy. I will post the video later. He had to beat Dave Mueller in the final. Dave was impressing everyone with his runs in the 11 seconds+. Reaction time had nothing to do with how fast someone got off the line. I was standing down in a crowd, his first pass. You should see seen THEIR reaction. It was WHOAH moment for many.

In the Winners Circle at Infineon, Glen showed off his flames. You should have seen the looks on faces, when he drove it back to our area, after a race, and they saw flames coming from his car.

<a href="http://s303.photobucket.com/albums/nn133/bttfman/?action=view&current=FLAMINGGLEN.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn133/bttfman/FLAMINGGLEN.jpg" border="0" alt="FLAMING GLEN"></a>

And the reason he might be running there is, he was just told those two men in black tee shirts were the trophy girls.

And here are a couple shots of some of the cars that showed up:

<a href="http://s303.photobucket.com/albums/nn133/bttfman/?action=view&current=CARS1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn133/bttfman/CARS1.jpg" border="0" alt="CARS 2"></a>

<a href="http://s303.photobucket.com/albums/nn133/bttfman/?action=view&current=CARS2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn133/bttfman/CARS2.jpg" border="0" alt="CARS 1"></a>

And besides the racing, during the wait time between rounds, we could visit the Mopar Car Show they had there. Check this car out:

More to come later. Thanks again Sergio. And it was indeed sad saying goodbye to everyone. But I will keep in touch.

Thanks for the pictures, we will miss you once you move East.
Beautifull weather and 14 cars, not bad for a first time event.Three new racers Dave Rudd,Jay West and Mike Keller all the way from so.cal. Thanks to all three hope to see you again at the Sacramento race.

This event ran exceptionally smooth. The track gave us equal treatment with top dragster and the other classes. Andrew, Jessica and Terry Scott arrived first and reserved enough space for all our cars, can't think of a single glitch or any griping. thanks to p.j for all her help with the ladder etc. Thanks to all again, the fun and comradirie that makes slant six racing so fun & fantastic.

We had another rookie there from Wilton - Dave Endres

<a href="http://s303.photobucket.com/albums/nn133/bttfman/?action=view&current=DAVEENDRES.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn133/bttfman/DAVEENDRES.jpg" border="0" alt="DAVE ENDRES"></a>

It was his first time ever racing, and ended up in the semi finals to his amazement and fun.

After Glen had his Winner Circle fun, we called Dave Mueller in there to get his second place award.

<a href="http://s303.photobucket.com/albums/nn133/bttfman/?action=view&current=Mueller.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn133/bttfman/Mueller.jpg" border="0" alt="MUEELER IN WINNER CIRCLE"></a>

Here is another look at his car

<a href="http://s303.photobucket.com/albums/nn133/bttfman/?action=view&current=MUELLERCAR.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn133/bttfman/MUELLERCAR.jpg" border="0" alt="MUELLER CAR"></a>

And it's engine

<a href="http://s303.photobucket.com/albums/nn133/bttfman/?action=view&current=MUELLERENGINE.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn133/bttfman/MUELLERENGINE.jpg" border="0" alt="MUELLER ENGINE"></a>

It was a true pleasure meeting Dave Mueller. The interaction between him and Dave Endres just before the semi final run was a hoot. The two had just met, and looked like best friends. But yes, that is how Killer Bees are.

In that run, Dave Endres cut a -.030 red light. Ouch. But he loved seeing that car blow past him at the finish line. Dave dialed in with an 18 second dial in. So he had quite a head start.

HANG ONTO YOUR SOCKS EVERYONE. If I did the link correctly, and you get to see the video, listen closely to the dial in and finishing times. Glen shows why he has been the champ the last couple of years. If this isn't championship material, I don't know what is.

Should you not want to see the video, or can't get the link, here is the scoop. Glen dials in with a 15.56. Dave dials in at a 11.65. At the finish line, you hear the announcer shocked, when he reads that Glen finished at 15.56, but had the double shock when he saw Dave peg the 11.65. AMAZING. Both racers pegged their dial ins. Glen was just a little quicker off the line. What a final race.

Okay, in this video, you will see Glen really wasn't running from the "Trophy Girls". He was running up to get his award. But you can see the fun we had in the Winners Circle at Infineon. Sergio is giving out the award. And Andrew aka KIDD helps get Glen out with his car.

And as the photos shown before showed, we also had Dave get his award in the winner circle. But the photos don't let you hear the sound of the awesome idle of that station wagon.

Enjoy.

Yes... "Baconfest" was held at this event.
The Moparts gang had a big booth and lots of people there. I made it a ponit to drive right by it and gun my engine... on my way to the starting line.

Allen and I had a lot of fun at this race... even thought we both went out on red lights, pretty early in the rounds. (Allen was .006 red in the first round, I was .022 red in the second round, running Glen)

I think the SL6 racers got some good "press" at theis event. We had some fast cars and our team runs like "clockwork" so the track really likes us.

We had a number of people who were watching us race, tell stories about some spectators bad mouthing SL6 cars one moment and then talking about how cool they were, after seeing them run! :D

I enjoyed finally getting the car to a Killer Bees race. After driving 8 plus hours and having a 30 mile detour to get to the track I did my first racing in 41 years (Lions 1968). It was the best 60 seconds (3 runs at 20ish) I've spent at the race track in a long time. The Killer Bees are a great group to hang out with. I'm looking forward to Septemebr in Sacramento.

Hey Mike, we were glad you could make it too. You and I met in the staging lanes. I really liked your car. Here is a video of you and my daughter Amy on the second time trial run. She red lights, of course. She was experimenting with the rpms and brakes at the line. And went just a tad too high. You beat your first time trial with a 19.71 here. Sorry I didn't zoom in on your time like I did Amy's.

It was nice meeting you too. I had a good time. First round left-.179 too early against Dave's wagon. Even with leaving that early plus an 8 second dial in difference, he still went blasting by me before the finish line. That is an awesome car.

I didn't get a chance to ask what have you done to the Dart? Amy moved off the line & was gone.

Changed out the points to a Pertronix II. Added the Dutra Split manifold, with 2.25' single pipe to a Flowmaster 40. Milled the head a little when we put in the oversized valves. Many people probably remember the screw in the cylinder I had to dig out. So while I had the head off, why not go with larger valves? I wanted to install a cam. But I was already over my head with the other work. And super sixed it with a Holley 350 CFM two barrel. I know. I have heard the 350 is too large for what I have, but it does me fine. Oh yeah, hot coil, good spark plug wires, as well. And I had everything out of the trunk. Amy weighs less than me. She has a 17.72 from a run at Redding. My best run was an 18.19. Given a cool morning, and the timing set right, it should beat that 17.72, if Amy drove it. My timing was off on Saturday.

But it now looks like I head to Georgia, and meet up with the east team at Knoxville next year, and try out the 1/8 mile. Heck, the car will be shifting into third when I cross the line there. It should be interesting. But also fun, meeting the people back there.

If you want to see photos of the car, go to the photo section, a page or more in, and look for DOBIE. It has clear shots of the engine section.

Oh yeah, looking at the video, it might be the rear gearing. I should be a 3.23 or 3.55. At 3300 rpms I am at 65 to 70mph. So I don't care for too much freeway driving. These aren't freeway gears. You may have freeway gears.
