Post subject:  BBD & Electric choke

I installed electric choke kit in to the BBD and started to wonder how wide open the choke should be when fully warm? If I adjust it fully open the car hesitates when the gas is given rapidly and if it is too small there are problem to start the car when it is "half warm".
Is this a trial and error type of adjustment or is there any "default setting" for it?

The choke should be all the way open when the engine's warmed up to operating temperature. Anything else is not acceptable. If the car won't run correctly when warm without the choke partially closed, there's a problem with the carburetor. Carburetor repair manuals are posted for free download over here.

On the topic of electric chokes.....where can I get a kit for a BBD with a integrated "climatic"? choke - the bakelite housing attached with 3 screws to the carb? has tube running down to the Exhaust manifold

Want to change over to electric

I am sure it's available, for I've done it myself. I'll dig into it when I'm back @ homebase.

The problem was the accelator piston seal which was bent upwards. New piston and now the carburator works fine with the electric choke fully open. :D
