| Post subject: | retro factory radio install |
i was getting tired of riding with no tunes in my 82 d-100.the radio in it was a electronic unit that worked when it wanted to.i went back into my stash of old car stereos and all electronic tune had succumbed to georgia humidity and no longer functioned. but all was not lost.last time i went junkyard crawling i had pulled a factory mechanical tune am/fm out of an 81 truck.i spent a few hours pulling the old stereo and sorting out the wires and testing the old stereo.....it worked left, right, front, rear, balance, fader, adjustable button set(although one is a bit crooked).a triumph for the old style engineering. now i just have to figure out where to install a pair of front speakers, since this truck only has a single dash speaker up front.i have a speaker box behind the seat that is providing most of the sound right now. |

You could run 2 smaller speakers in the location of the 1 speaker........... Wouldn't get any stereo seperation, but you'd be running with the 2 speakers............. |

http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34200 These look cool. They probably won't fit your truck, but maybe you could use the same idea. |
