Hi All, I'm new to slant sixes and early A bodies. Very well versed in pretty much everything else. I have a few questions. The subject is a '65 Barracuda with a /6, I think 225 but wont know until i see it Sunday. So if you can help with any, jump on in.. First, Does the later ('68-76) A body header P4529471 fit? That's the MP 6 into 1 long tube header. Second, will any of the later A 4sp chassis parts like the bell crank, pedals, and bellhousing work? I know the trannys are the trunion type but I'll be replacing the driveshaft and I think I have a couple slip yoke ones that would fit, plus a bunch of aluminum A833ODs. Third, I here the std A body 8 3/4 will bolt in, but I'm also told the leaf springs for later A's wont. Why not or is this even true? I think that's it for now. I'm sure I'll have more questions once I see the car. Thanks in advance! |

Welcome I can answer some of your questions. The headers wont fit with out some SERIOUS mods. 4 speed parts will work except the bell housing, you must have a slant bell. 66 you may not have the trunion mine didnt. A body 8 3/4 will bolt in. You may or may not need to move spring perches.depends on the year of 8 3/4. As for 225 or 170 engines look at the head to block heater hose. If 3 inches long 225, if 2 inches long 170. Or check the id pad on the block machine surface at number one cyc. |

It won't fit without a LOT of modification.Quote: Second, will any of the later A 4sp chassis parts like the bell crank, pedals, and bellhousing work? Any year A Body 8 & 3/4 is a direct fit (except for shortening the driveshaft). I've got a 71 or 72 A Body 8 & 3/4 under my 65 GT convert. I'm pretty sure springs from at least 63 through 76 are a direct interchange - some are more heavy duty than others.
