Hi,

Does anyone run wheels this big on their 62 Valiant or Lancer? I'm wondering if they'd fit. There is a set available near me with 225/60s on them.

Thanks!

John D

Remember the '62 Valiant has the small (4") bolt circle, and Mopar 15" × 7" wheels have the big (4½") bolt circle. But assuming you convert your '62 to big bolt brakes, then 15" × 7" wheels will fit the (open) wheel wells fine. You'll need to turn the wheels full left to full right to make sure there's no interference between tires and fenders or frame rails.

You're answering all my questions today Dan, thank you.

The wheels are some Centerline auto drags, and are the small bolt pattern. I should have mentioned that. My other Valiant has the 14" Cragars and they're nice but look a little small. I'll have to do a little measuring when I get home.

The wheels were on an "early year" dart according to the seller. I'm hoping the wheelwells are similarly sized.

Thanks again,

John

If the backspacing is correct (4 - 4.75") then those should work very well. So far, I've had 14X7, 15X7, 15X8, 16X8, 17X8, and 17X9s on my A-bodies. 15X7 is a nice size and should not require much work, if any, to get them to fit. 225/60s should work well too.

Best,

Lou

Thanks Lou!

I'm talking to the guy today and will find out the backspacing. I hope they fit. If I get these I'll have the set of stock wheels that come off to use for rollers on the junker! Two birds with one stone :D

If you were to change to 15" wheel, I believe you could use a P215/60R15 and a 16-tooth pinion gear which should keep your odometer accurate. The P225/60R15 will be off by about 2%. This size includes a 3% diameter correction for dynamic rolling radius.

Tire Dimensions

Tire circumference and distance traveled...

The P215/60R15 was the standard tire on the 5th-gen GM N-bodies (Grand Am, Alero, etc). Not sure about the P225/60R15.

Yes, that is a perfect combo for a '63-66 A-body.
