Now that I'm almost done restoring my 1963 Dodge Dart Station Wagon, who do you guys and gals recommend to appraise the car. Is there a group that specializes in Mopars?

A recommendation like this is totally location-specific. I know the (one and only) guy I recommend in Ontario, and I've found a reliable guy in Seattle. You have to be very picky and choosy about who appraises your car. There's a great market for hyperinflated, unrealistic appraisals. These can support (sorta) hyperinflated, unrealistic asking prices (or auction reserves) but they aren't sturdy when the car is damaged and insurance matters come to the fore. The very first thing the insurance company does is check the veracity of the appraisal, and inflated ones quickly get discarded. The insurance company then gets upset and distrustful of you and you wind up with a poorer deal than if you'd started with a realistic appraisal.

(BTW, your other posts of this same message have been deleted from the "Social Corner" and "Parts Wanted" sections of the board. We don't do that here — please always only ever post in one location. This here is the correct one for this topic.)

Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure where to post this subject. I live in Massachusetts. I wonder if there's an Insurance Appraiser that is recommended for this area.

Call up Hagerty classic car insurance (easy find on the internet), tell them you want a quote on their insurance but first you need to find out what the car's worth, and ask for a referral. They are very straight shooters.

I've always had mine done by Jeff Locke (Norfolk,VA area):

He's a member of the International Vehicle Appraisers Network:

There's lots of useful info on those sites. Haggarty accepted his appraisal, no problem.

Just curious, who do you use in the Seattle area?
