Any information on a swap like this would be helpful. I need to swap the coolum shifter on my 74 Swinger to a floor mounted unit. If anyone knows of a easy swifter swap let me know. I can not find anything to rebuild the column shifter

I'm doing the same job on my '67 Valiant. I have the A903 manual 3-speed and I'm swapping in a '66-'67 vintage A833. I have gathered the transmission, shift linkage, shifter, a cast iron A833 bellhousing and a floor hump from a Duster. Since my car has a slip-yoke transmission output shaft and I have a '66-'67 trans I don't even have to change the driveshaft yoke.

On a '65 or earlier car you'll have to get a floor hump from a '66 or older car (or fabricate something) and use a '65 or older A833 if you want to keep the existing ball-and-trunion driveshaft. Personally I'd use this opportunity to swap to a slip-yoke output trans and driveshaft.

You can use the late model bellhousing if you use an A833OD. Or have a spacer ring made to adapt the smaller input bearing retainer of a regular A833 to the large hole in the late model bellhousing. I did this when I took the A833OD out of my '66 Dart and put in a standard A833. In fact I may do this again for my Valiant to lose a little weight.

Aftermarket 4 speed humps are designed to fit '75-76 A bodies. You are better off trying to find a factory one. Possibly pay less and will fit.

I have an after market hump I bought from Dante's Mopar parts. It fits good. Yet there is a large gap at the rear.

When you cut the tranny tunnel leave extra metal to bend up. I am attaching mine with stainless sheet metal screws. Will caulk the foo out of it with Permatex that comes in the caulking tube.

The floor pan is different due to needing clearance for the catalyst.

What pisses me off nobody tells you the hump isn't an exact fit.
