| Post subject: | clutch kit, trans axle bearing sleeve |
I bought a clutch kit for my '64 Valiant, and it came with two different bearing sleeves (the brass sleeve that pounds into the flywheel plate). One is a little longer than the other - this is the bearing that the end of the trans shaft slides into. My question - which one to use and how to tell? Will the longer one impede the trans shaft somehow? Any tricks for pounding that thing in? Thanks, |

If one is larger diameter it is probably for the unfinished cranks. It will drive into the register of the crank instead of the pilot bushing bore. The smaller diameter one will drive into the pilot bore on the crank after you get the old one out. |

Hi Slantzilla, The diameter of both bearings are the same, and they both fit nicely over the end of the trans axle. The length of one is slightly longer - about 1/2 inch longer. |

Ahhh, am I understanding that only the length is different and not the OD? I would choose by the hole in the crank. If it is finished all the way down use the longer one. |
