Good question SimplyJeremy, welcome aboard. Nice looking engine.

Help us to help you by listing your year, model, transmission type, and any mods such as an electric choke, that are pertinent to the discussion, that way you can get a faster more knowledgeable reply.

For starters I need you to do a little detective work for me:

Trace that wire back to the "Bulkhead Connector"; where all the wires pass through the fire wall. Find the correct wire diagram for your year and model here, and identify which section of the connector it passes through. There are three caps with up to 8 wires each looking from the engine side. Using the diagram, identify which little letter your green wire passes through. With that you should be able to land that wire on its proper terminal.

Let us know what you find, or if you still are having trouble.

Slantsix Dan will be advising you to purchase three books. Get them as soon as possible if you don't all ready have them in your reference library, they will make slant life much, much easer for you.

Good luck

Welcome on the board. You'll want to get, as quickly as possible, the three books described in this thread.

Yup, as others have said, it's the oil pressure sender wire. You'll find the sender where it connects "hiding" just below the oil filter and to the rear of it.

Tune-up parts and technique suggestions are in this thread.
