Trying to fix the vacuum amplifier in 1976 Aspen.

Half of the emission systems removed when the car came to me. I got a vacuum amp and hoses from a parts car for free. The problem was that the vacuum amp didn't work, just pulled EGR open at idle and engine kept stalling. Every other parts of the EGR-system work, I tested them.

I disassembed the amplifier and found out that the small rubber gasket/diagraph (the middle one in the picture) was broken and the manifold vacuum went straight to the EGR-line. I tried to glue the rubber thing, but I doupt it ever works again.

Are there gasket sets or new amplifiers avaliable?

No repair parts are available for the vacuum amplifier, and the amplifier itself is no longer available. Why not just remove the EGR system altogether? The car will run better.

Thanks Dan, that's what I expected.

I just try to keep the car as original as possible, it's a survivor. But EGR's got to go...

Inspection is not the problem, because pre-1978 cars don't have to run emission tests here.

I agree with Dan, remove the EGR from your slant. It'll run better, and you'll have less stuff under the hood.

If you are trying to keep the original look, hook all the EGR stuff back up, but put a plug (BB, etc) in the vacuum supply line. That will dissable the system, but keep the stock appearence.
