| Post subject: | Removal of A/C from My Dart |
I couldn't find the thread that addressed if you can remove the A/C equipment under the dash and still be able to use the heater and defrost. I have a factory installed A/C on my 72 Dart. I have pulled the engine (51K) and am replacing it with a small block. I will not be putting the A/C back in. It worked but needed a recharge. I would like to remove everything under the dash. Will I have a problem with control of the heater and defrost if I do this? I would like to sell the a/c as a complete unit if possible w/o the heater/defrost/control vacuum unit in the dash. Also, my heater/defrost/a/c fan will only blow on low. Is there a resistor that may be the problem or am I in need of of new blower motor? Has anyone had this problem? Thanks for any info and/or advice!! |

You will have to get the heater box and controls from a non a/c car to convert to a non a/c setup. There also might be some holes to patch in the firewall, but that shouldn't be to much of a chore if you do it while the engine is out. |

Will I have a problem if I just remove the vent sytem below the dash and the a/c unit that has the lines protruding thru the firewall? I suppose the defrost and heat will not work properly. |
