I want to get away from my one year only k member. Is it possible to use a 73+ spool mount frame with my KH disc brakes?I know you can use later brakes on earlier K members, but was not sure if it works the other way around.

Thanks

I'll be swapping in a unitized 1976 K-member in my '67 as that one year only idler arm is just bad ju-ju on Mopar's part, and I don't particularly like the sandwich mounts...that and the kit for the 1973+ suspension rebuild kit is much cheaper... there should be no difference in mounting points for the LCA's and torsion bars on that exchange, you will need a set of 1973+ spool mounts for your engine though...

Thanks for answering all of my questions DI.

I was aware of the need for spool mounts, and is actually one of the reasons I want the 73+ K.

Sorry, just covering my bases, and making sure that less experienced members contemplating this change have a few things to think about. Both you and I will be doing this one for the 'right' reasons, I think...or at least the least hassles and price on future suspension rebuild kits...

No worries my friend :D Your info is always valued, even if I already know it(like piece of mind.)

My new question: When it comes time to buy a rebuild kit what should I do? I know I will need the small ball joints for my KH setup, but what about everything else? Should I buy the 73+ kit and just sell the balljoints?

Really? Compared to a kit for the '67? Or compared to kits for all years? I was under the impression the '70-72 kits were nearly the same price as the '73+ and used nearly all the same parts...

Look at Espo, the price for the base rubber 1973+ kit is $185, the other kits are $265...
