What is the general consensus as far as ET regarding a 'cage.

At what ET do you need a 2 Point?

4 Point?

6 Point?

Etc.

Thanks!

Greg

I think it is now 11.50s for a 6pt cage. Don't think any tracks/rulebooks want anything less than 6pt for drag racing. 4pt is in the SCCA and road racing rulebooks, and 2pt is basically worthless.

I dont think the SCCA lets you use a 4 point roll bar in any class anymore, maybe back in the '60's.

SCCA and NASA both specify 4 pt roll bars for timetrial classes (solo I and II). The designs are different than NHRA bars, but there is enough overlap to do both if you like.

I stand corrected, I was thinking dedicated road race cars. For solo events I have done the autocross's and a rollbar is not required for stock class's I ran in.

As far as NHRA/IHRA are concerned, 11.50 to 10.00 with stock/unaltered firewall requires a 6 pt roll bar. From 9.99 and quicker they require certified 8-14 pt roll cages depending on the modifications and the performance levels which also include many different certifications which the majority of slant racers should never be concerned about. Best to purchase a rule book from either of these sanctioning bodies as their safety requirements are basically identical.
