Senior moment.......Can I run a slant on an engine test stand, without the flywheel or flex plate/converter?
Can't remember offhand if it's internally or externally balanced engine.

It would be fairly easy to use an old bellhousing or auto trans case for the rear mount on the stand. Then you'd have a place for the starter too.

Aarrrgggggg!!! :x I found my flywheel and cleaned it up a bit, got some grade 8 bolts, and discovered that the pilot is smaller than the crank flange's pilot. Damn.....it's an early flywheel, and won't fit on a later crank. Guess I'm going to have to have it hogged out...........Monday. :(

Are you sure SAE Grade 8 is correct? In most every application I've worked on, Grade L9 screws are required. Use blue Loctite when installing them.

Hmmm...an excuse to add a lathe to your tool collection? (I have 3)

Well, I can't be sure 8's are correct, but this is a short-term run on a test stand. As for the lathe....yes, I'd very much like to have one, just don't have enough room to put one in place.
