Senior moment.......Can I run a slant on an engine test stand, without the flywheel or flex plate/converter? Can't remember offhand if it's internally or externally balanced engine. Roger |

It would be fairly easy to use an old bellhousing or auto trans case for the rear mount on the stand. Then you'd have a place for the starter too. |

Aarrrgggggg!!!  I found my flywheel and cleaned it up a bit, got some grade 8 bolts, and discovered that the pilot is smaller than the crank flange's pilot. Damn.....it's an early flywheel, and won't fit on a later crank. Guess I'm going to have to have it hogged out...........Monday.  Roger |

Are you sure SAE Grade 8 is correct? In most every application I've worked on, Grade L9 screws are required. Use blue Loctite when installing them. Well, I can't be sure 8's are correct, but this is a short-term run on a test stand. As for the lathe....yes, I'd very much like to have one, just don't have enough room to put one in place. Roger |
