Post subject:  Aluminum Master Cylinder Ports question

I'm converting to a late model aluminum master cylinder (82 truck 1 1/8" bore) and I don't know which port feeds F/R. I know only one port has the residual valve for the rear drums... I don't want to cross it up.... anyone know the skinny? There are 2 port sizes: front-9/16" ... rear-1/2"... thanks

Don't know if this will help any but the m/c on my 83 van is front to rear an rear to front. They're plumbed into a pv/block before going hither an yon so rear port goes to front of pv/block then to front brakes etc.

Thanks, I think most of the Chrysler products are like this but I'm not sure. (Rear reservoir feeds the front).

Be carefull, on the fitting for the front port. It is 9/16, but a 20 pitch thread. Just about any fitting you find in a parts store will be 9/16- 18 thread. It won't work. Will strip the threads after it goes in about 1/2 way.

Thanks Charlie, I noticed that. Where do you source those fittings?

Here is one place:

A parts store may have one or can order it though.

I did not have any luck with parts stores. The only thing I was able to find was a brass adapter, which I don't like to use. I sourced mine from "fedhill" (see link). The problem is their shipping and handing fee, for one fitting. Since I have a business, I was able to get a discount, on the parts, and ordered several to have on hand, and I sent a couple to a site member in the UK.
