| Post subject: | Broken Horns, a potential repair and L*cas and Autolite |
Hi guys, The MoT guys over here have picked up on me having a two tone horn that only half works. The high portion has been very temperamental for me, for the previous owner it was never temperamental (it very reliably never worked). Easiest way to pass the MoT was to take the high horn off (if it aint there it aint broken). Finally having decided to do somthing about it, I took the horn dome off and found that the little electrical coil jobbie heats to red hot, when the horn isn't working. I decided to dismantle that part of the horn, clean everything up and put it back together with some new fabricated insulators. I managed to break the coil wire, and have soldered it back together, though doubt this will work. I thought I'd try my luck on ebay to find a replacement, and in the UK,several lucas products came up that look remarkably similar to my autolite horn. Is there any history between Lucas and Autolite (My horn is stamped 'Made in Canada' if that helps)? Thanks guys, 60 Ply |
