Leak down test maybe just needs valve adjustment.

Be sure the PCV line is not plugged and the PCV valve is working properly. Even a new motor will puke oil if it is not vented correctly. The more HP the worse it can become.

Depending on the engine care and type of oil and driving habits, thermostat temp, the oil rings could be plugged with carbon deposits. Start it on a diet of Rislone to clean them out.

a new pcv valve and rislone oil treatment seamed to have lessened the smoke out of the oil stem

still have a rough idle in drive
she likes to stall
idle rpm is 1000
but 700-800 in drive when stopped

Good!

A little high on the idle.....
What do you have it timed at?

Rislone is a good safe start. A quart of synthetic oil per change will also clean out the oil rings. Both are very gradual so the filter will take out the debris over time. I have saved many engines that were once neglected or didn't have good maintenance. Transmission fluid will also work but it is allot more aggressive and could cause problems if you use too much at once. A cup will go along way.

Hopefully the engine is not doing short hops and it gets throughly warmed up. Long trips will show the biggest improvements. Hopefully your running a 195 degree stat. 180 degree is the lowest I would go.

With that high of oil pressure you may loose your oil pump gear unless you have one of Doc's hardened gears. My buddy that races just found out the hard way on his SL6.

Is this engine a tired stock engine that was modified or new and built for racing?

Another vote for readjusting the valve lash... run them as loose as you can.
Do you know what cam is in the engine?
