I am in need of a new 727 automatic transmission for my d150 pickup. I can pick one up out of a diplomat for $75 bucks or pull one out of a truck at the junk yard. Im thinking the car one will be geared differently? Would that impact towing im gonna run hookers headers so somewhat increased torque. Opinons? thanks
Dave

I dont think the Diplomat would have a 727. What year diplomat would this be? I think I would stick with the truck trans. Less likely to have a lockup transmission. Also the tailshaft length has to match. So the truck would be the best bet. Most diplomats had the smaller trans [999] that was a lockup style. Im assuming that the Diplomat is a mid to late eighties version.

If you find the trans serail # I can probly ID it for you.look just above the oil pan on the driver's side. It will start with P or PK and then 7 or 8 numbers.
