Welcome aboard! Looks like a fun project.
There is some good info over in the Articles that should help you select blocks and heads, then set up some engines.
I think Lou (Dart270) was working with a Dakota, as well. Or did I imagine that?

Hey, cool!

I have a 1990 "Slantkota" originally built by Meril Bruner in TN and now modded by me and is my daily driver. Runs 16s with a medium-built motor and is my tow vehicle. After some tuning should have it in the mid 15s?

Pics are with the original trashed motor, now replaced.

12.00s are doable especially with a light truck. What is your target weight?

Please do some searching in the Engine section and in the articles on the homepage and then start asking buildup questions.

Best,

Lou
