You will need to know the brand of shifter (Hurst, Inland, etc) and know how the stick mounts into the shifter box. (bolt-on or slip-in) With that info, you can most likely get a pistol grip stick assembly but who knows if the stick's angle(s) will be correct for your truck. May-be you can just order the shift knob (pistol grip style) and mount it to your current stick? FYI: On all my 4-speed cars, I end-up custom bending the stick in order to place it in a location that is comfortable for my driving position. FYI #2: I agree that a pistol grip shift knob looks great but I never liked the way they felt when shifting... I like a "T" handle, cocked clockwise, about 30 degrees. DD |

Contact Gunslinger. They make the Hurst handles. Chances are you have a Hurst mechanism. You can drill the bayonet style and put a bolt in it. |

ALERT!!!ALERT!!! We got ourselves a Ford Toploader enthusiast...or a closet Boss/Mach 1 - 4 speed fan.... Just kidding!!!! Your truck should have the Hurst 4 speed shift mechanism. There were a run of pistol grip handle shift sticks out a while back , I suspect the truck might have to use a B-body shifter with some custom bending...the custom A-body one used to be E-body shifters cut and welded to the A-body tab. I actually like the stock A-body shift stick and the inland 3 speed floor shifter is about right...I think the Ford/Hurst shifter that Doc has referred to, is more comfortable and 'positive' than the pistol grip. Good luck, -D.Idiot |

| Post subject: | I bent mine with a shop press from a Hurst and |
Howdy! I needed one for my truck too. The throw from 1 t 2 would hit the dash and the pull to 4th would hit the seat. Using a shop press and some chunks of 4 x 6 lumer I bent it just right and it wasn't much trouble. I dummied oneup from an piece of elect. conduit to get the basic shape after about a half dozen trips under neath to bolt it on and take it off. It might be laying around the shop (the shift lever) if you want it. Since I got out of the 4 speed and into a 727. No pistol grip though, I used the old time Hurst T handle Doc likes. rock '64d100 |
