i was alligning my daughters 76 scamp today and it drives good does not pull to any side. i even got the steering wheel straight. the only issue that i could not get a handle on was that it does not return to center coming out of a left hand turn, coming out of a right hand turn it centers well. any one have allignment experience they could share. thanks jd |

Uneven caster from side-to-side is the likely culprit. |

thanks josh, do i adjust the caster with the front or back upper A arm cam or the strut rod? jd |

It might not be very scientific but I have always had pretty good results by first adjusting the upper control arms to give maximum caster, that is adjust the eccentric bolts to pull the top of the spindle as far to the rear as possible. This will leave the rear eccentric all the way in and the front one all the way out. Then set your camber by turning the eccentric that will put your wheel where you want it, I use a square and set the top of the tire in about 1/4-3/8" which should give you about 1 degree negative camber. Then set your toe in and center the steering wheel. What you end up with is as much caster as you can have on each side, you don't know what it is, or if it is the same side to side, but the car seems to go down the road pretty good using this method. |

The factory strut rod is not adjustable. The caster and camber adjustments are made at the upper control arm. You really need a caster/camber gauge to set the caster equally. jd I've used one of these before. http://www.longacreracing.com/catalog/i ... 29&catid=5 |
