There are two bosses on the drivers side of the head. Will it be enough to attack the chains to those and lift the engine out of the car? The tranny is already pulled. |

Yes that is where you lift. The factory/dealers used just 1 with an L bracket front for engine only back for engine and trans. Frank |

Use the front hole when lifting the engine only. Use a strap between both holes when lifting the engine with the transmission attached. DD |

Since a few of us,ok just me,pull/install slants in vans a different lifting point is needed as every inch of head room we can get is required.Got this design out of a mid 70's Clymer/Haynes manual(back when they were good),might have even been a Chilton manual, time fogs the memory |

I made my own out of angle iron, and bolted it to the two bosses provided on the head. I then attached my chains on either end. It worked very well: |

Ken here you go,if the scan isn't clear on dims let me know Once it was built I used an old int/exh gasket to mark for stud holes. Color pic also shows steel strap from lifting plate to lower block(where trans bracket bolts).Front hole on plate is for boom hook, rear hole is for van specific holdy upper tool,if interested I can e-mail you pic and dims for that. |
