Do these go in the trash or get recycled somehow? I got three or four. They've been tested. No good. |

Sorry, I don't know of anyone who recycles junk car coils, but be aware that they are filled with some kind of transformer oil. Transformer oil used to contain PCBs that are now considered very hazardous. While there is a little copper in there, I doubt it's enough to justify cutting them open. The next time your local collects old electronics and the like, I'd toss them in that pile. I just tossed old ones in the trash w/o thinking about it much; that's probably a no-no now. |

Hmmmm......"Very old junk coils".....would you happen to have any pics? The sketchy description could be anything from a wooden-frame model T coil, all the way through what we had pre-electronic ignition. I'm in the market for one or two of the early cast finned coils or housings. I'd also be interested in a clear glass outer housing coil. Roger |

OK....what you have there are the average, generic coil. I'd suggest letting a scrap dealer have them, or turn them in to a hazardous materials center if there's one near you. I do thank you for posting a pic, though. Roger |

I have about five old ignition coils, they've all been collected from various Mopars over the years. I had one on my Volare, but I got a little paranoid and put a new Accel coil on. |
