Post subject: | Rocker arm slop |
Hey all. My brother and I have been doing a little work to try to fire up the 68 Fargo A100 in the last week. After replacing the Park Neutral switch, the engine now cranks for the first time since I rescued the van! I've sprayed some releasing fluid in the spark plug holes to loosen up the rings. when I removed the valve cover to pour some oil over the rockers and down the pushrods, I adjusted the rockers while I was at it (should be solid lifters in it...). However, I noticed that several of the rocker arms had some side-to-side slack. I am more familiar with Ford Sixes of this vintage, but I notice with their assemblies, there are springs that are on the rocker arm shaft between the arms that keep them in position... do slants have this too, and our motor is missing them? Didn't see any broken bits on the head, so... but I don't want to try to fire up the engine if the rockers are not properly in place on the shaft. Thanks. |

There are no missing springs, it is normal to have some side play. |
