Hi Gang, I just installed a front end kit (upper/lower control arm bushings, inner/outer tie rods, upper/lower ball joints, etc.) on my 1966 Dart, automatic tranny. FYI: I did only the right side of the car today. When I finishied putting everything back together and lowered the jack, the dang thing just keeps lowering until I hit the lower control arm bumper. What gives? Essentially, I have no front suspension whatsoever. The torsion bar adjusting bolt won't make contact with the place where it is supposed to be seated. My suspicion is that it has someting to do with the torsion bar. Any help would sure be appreciated. :- Tom kimpelt@pdx.edu |

Would it be possible you installed the torsion bar in the front socket 60 degrees off? In this case back out the torsion bar, screw the adusting bolt all the way out, reinstall the torsion bar with the front socket arm in a horizontal position, set it down and readjust the ride height. |

I think Aaron nailed the problem, exactly. I would also warn you to wait till you have both sides done and the 'attitude' of the car normalized on a level surface, before you final torque the lower control arm pivot, strut rod ends, and upper control arm cam bolts. If you tighten the aforementioned bits prematurely, the bushings will have a twist in them at rest, and any movement from rest will tend to overload them and hasten their demise. Quote:
