well tonight me and THOR got my valiant back into shape. for real this time. turns out it was a combination of miss adjusted valve lash, coil being over volted (was getting 14v  ) and i replaced my voltage regulator. dash gauge needle was shaking like it had Parkinson's. after that, an idle adjustment and timing adjustment and she purrs like a kitten. so HOPEFULLY the valiant chronicles are now over. and i can finally start prettying up the car a little bit.

Sounds like a cracked head if it's coming up between the valves with the cover off. Time to do a pressure test on the cooling system and a compression test.
