Does anyone know if an electronic ignition conversion kit is still available for the 225 slant six. So far everywhere I turn is a dead end. |

There are several on Ebay right now. Do a search for "slant six distributor" |

You can also get the 'harness' from your dodge dealer then you'll be needing a EI distributor and a module... the ebay kit is complete, but if you can get the module and distributor in good shape easy for less money the harness is a whole $23 usually... -D.idiot |

I have grabbed a setup in the past from a salvage yard, but that is always questionable. Was hoping someone new how to get hands on a the MP P3690789 kit. |

The MP kit is a big waste of money. Distributor has an advance curve totally unsuitable for the street, and the orange box is of poor quality. Do the HEI upgrade instead. |

I would look into the Pertronix II kit, as I'm given to believe it has a clever dwell control, or hide a MSD6 and use the points only as a trigger. I didn't see anything for the /6 in the latest DC catalog. |

Keeping the points, even as "only" a trigger, is a poor idea. There's no reason to mess with points; the Chrysler electronic distributor is easy, inexpensive, and very well made, and it will trigger whatever spark box you want to run. MSD reliability is questionable any more and the cost-effectiveness is not there — not when you can get equal or better performance with a common-as-dirt HEI module. (try walking into a parts store in East Japip and see how far you get with "Yeah, my MSD box/Pertronix module just failed". Now try it again with "Yeah, I need a 4-pin GM HEI module".) |

hi sages- glad to see the return of uncle dan. wow that sounds like a swashbuckling gangster movie from the 40s. dan makes a very good and practical point. having been to east japip and north bergonia many times i can appreciate the need to avoid parts that are generally not available for repair. the chrysler electronic ignition is very durable , cheap and easy to replace, generally available, but suffers from the weakness of theballast resistor which can cause a vexatious start but no run condition unless you are aware of its behavior and carry a spare. to its credit the hei eliminates the ballast resistor. also the system to its credit eliminates the points and condenser. having replaced many points and condensers and used a dwell tachometer to set the points, i noticed that points performance started to deteriorate within only the first 5kmiles. on trips i used to carry spare points, and point file in my tool kit. how many of you have used a dwell tach and points file? not many ill bet since 72 i believe was the last chrysler points distributor. project list includes adding and wiring that hei module to my 80 sl6. by the way east japip had this nice diner on bafalafaka street where you could get a great turkey club with real turkey and a cup of mud for 4.95. anybody been there lately? regards bf |

I always care spare parts - things tend to die inconvenient places and times. |

I still have the Tach/Dwell Meter that I purchased and used extensively more than 30 years ago. |
