hi, can somebody tell me what the timing should be when using the mallory distributor ? my friend did the timing for me and i think he set it at 5 or 8 degrees btdc. should i go with what the fsm says? i couldn't find any timing info for the mallory distributor . i'm clueless when it comes to this stuff. it's in a slant 170 stock '61 valiant. i would appreciate any help thanks |

What you're missing is that every engine is slightly different. You'll have to experiment and keep performance and mileage logs to really get it right. I sure hope that distributor has vacuum advance! If not you're going to sacrifice a lot of economy. |

I was just thinking the same thing. Most Mallory distributors, I have seen do not have a vacuum advance. OK for racing, but terrible on a street driver.Is it a dual point or a unilite dist? |
