I was just wondering, If I want to put a offy 4bbl manifold on my slant 6... do I need another exhaust manifold aswell, or is the offy compatible to the original 170 exh. manifold? ... or is a 4bbl manifold just retarded on a 170? |

You are ok with the stock exh manifold. I would however do some head work and cam the engine. Also would go to 2 1/4 exhaust. Frank PS I have an Offy for sale if you need one |

Frank, You know where I can get the mounting plate for the carb? I have tried posting on parts wanted. |

Ted I have heard its still available from Offy for about 31 bucks. I only buy and sell with the adapter plate so I havent needed one. Although I will need one for my new Aussie Manifold. Frank |

Make a new plate from a four hole 1 inch spacer. Turn the carb sideways with throttle shaft parallel to the engine. it will run so miuch better you will wonder why it wasnt built that way. Idle will improve dramatically and idle air screws will be responsive to even a slight adjustment. Engine will run smoother at all part throttle settings. A MAJOR improvement to say the least. The mode to the four hole spacer to fit the manifold takes about 10 minutes including countersinking the holes so counter sunk or as I use allen head screws can be used. A paper pattern with get you the drill spots. A minor clean up where the carb holes meet will make it perfect although if I do it again I wil remove the holes in the manifold proper as they are with the 1 inch spacer redundant. Don Pic of mine on the Seniordragster website. Feels really strong in testng too. Pulls very hard |

Hey Don I totally agree. Putting the carb sideways is the best. I do ALL mine like that. Frank |
