Ive been wanting to upgrade the suspension on my 72 dart for a while now since the current setup is far too soft and bouncy. im looking for shocks that will make it a nice stiff ride to cut body lean as well when cornering.

which would you recommend to use that has worked best for you or have heard positive feedback from?
I was checking out KYB's and those appear to be decent, but i want a personal experience, not claims. (it has a 318 up front) im trying to keep it $50 or under per set of 2 if thats possible. or maybe i could get extenders for my leaf springs to both raise and stiffin the rear end so id only have to get 2 good front shocks.

thanks

Why not install a sway bar to correct the body lean and keep the comfortable soft ride on the straight parts? :?:

how hard is it to install a sway bar? im not really into the soft ride it gets bouncy on the highway. and where I live there are some pretty bad speed bumps, since my suspension is so soft the car bottoms out when going over it from the bounce, I always have to angle the car or at least go 10mph over it head on.

KYBs work well. Edelbrock IAS work even better but are much more costly ($77 apiece or so)

At least the KYBs.......

Anti-roll bars are easy. Get the urethane bushings.....

Did front and rear sway bars on my Brothers 69 Barracuda /6 car, a few years ago. Got the job done in one afternoon.
Easy job and well worth it. Totally transforms the car.

I have KYB's on my cruising style ragtop, and they are a good choice for that type of thing. I think they would be a little soft for a handling build-up. I agree about the sway bar, easy to do and you'll love the results. I seem to have heard that there are two possible attachment points for the end links. Maybe someone can post the differences. :?:

Cars that came with a factory sway bar have attachment tabs welded to the lower control arms. If it doesn't have the factory tabs then an atthment tab is bolted to the lower shock mount.

Stiffer springs/torsion bars, sway bars, AND good shocks are the way to go for better handling and a firmer ride. Upgrading the shocks alone is like bolting a 4bbl on a stock engine – you'll notice a difference, but it's the entire package that counts.

I went with .890 front torsion bars and 6-leaf rear springs from Espo, along with KYB's and 235/60-14 tires all around, and my '72 Swinger handled very well. So well that when I added a front sway bar, I barely noticed it.

I've had kyb's and edelbrocks. I prefer the edelbrocks but kybs are good if you dont want to spend the money and arent looking to carve corners like a madman.
