How can a small piece of rubber make you feel so dumb. Any sugestion on how to get the aftermarket polyurethane torsion bar boots on.

This is what I'm doing, sliding the bar in from the back and then tring to get the boot on the bar, before sliding it into the lower control arm. Tried stretching it over a large socket and then sliding it on the bar. This worked on one side after ten tries (two hours). but can not seem to do it again on the other side (I think my arms are tired out). Any suggestion are welcome I am greasy and sore and still have one to go. So with some of your help maybe tomarrow will go better.

thanks Joe

One heat it up a bit with a hair drier and see if it becomes more 'resilient', and try to use a bit of lube/grease/snot to get it to slide over the bar end...I'm thinking a small bit of warming it up might get it to be a bit friendlier...(Don't over do it an melt it...)

Good Luck,

Cut a funnel off where it is just bigger than the end of the torsion bar, then slip the boot over the funnel and onto the bar. That's what I was going to try, but my rubber boots just slipped right on (once I installed a bar, and then remembered it needed the boot...).

Soak it in a pot of very hot water for a couple of minutes.

Exactly what I did and they went on. I had to position myself for max leverage though.

Yep, those suckers were a challenge. Wait until you have to try stretching the other end over the lip on the car frame.

Finished the other side today. warmed them up a bit and when on easier, but not some thing I want to do again. hope they last forever. Thanks for all your suggestions. I am sure now that I am starting to assemble things, I will have plenty more questions.

Joe
