my truck needs an engine, an 89 Ram pick up, how difficult to put a six where the 318 was, it is a 4 speed 4wd tbi. I had a slant six back in the eighties and really liked it, I think it would be a hoot to have one again, points and carb like the old days

Basically you would need to get a different transmission and then find a truck with a slant six and get essentially everything in the engine compartment- motor, mounts, radiator, exhaust line, carb, fuel line, etc... You might run into problems if your truck has an in tank fuel pump as well.

The bigger problem would be passing emissions.

My advice would be to simply buy an older truck that already has a slant six in it.

Why would he need a new radiator? You can get hose in any configuration to match any neck to any neck. And the v8 radiator should be able to handle a /6.

He might not. But the point is it is lots of effort and probably won't pass emissions.

Maybe you can find someone to swap trucks with you. Some folks like them V8 engines for some reason.
