I moved my 72 valiant today for the first time in a long time (5 years?).

It smelled like pee. I discovered a huge nest in the right-side vent "box" (this is a non-A/C car) behind the vent door..

The car was in the garage with the windows down. The defroster tubes disintegrated a long time ago. Did the mice enter the vent by first entering the car and then via the defroster ducts or did they some how get in the vents some place else? I can't see how the could possible get in from the cowl. Am I missing something?

Mice can apparently fold themselves in hyperspace, which allows them to appear, nibble on wiring, make a mess, and breed any-dang-where they want. We find them and thier bigger cousins in all sorts of interesting places.

Q: What's worse than finding a rat in a breaker box?

A: Finding half a rat.

The best approaches usually involve luring them elsewhere for capture and elimination, and/or cats.
