I used to have mice problems and once my blower motor's resistor set their nest burning, but not since I started doing several things: 1) removed the battery (the little heat from the maint. charger seemed to attract them) 2) put many paradichlorobenzene mothballs in the pass cpt. and under the hood (they don't seem to mind napththalene ones at all) 3) made covers to block the air vents (found evidence of chewing there) 4) put mousetraps by the tires (caught a few) I also put desiccant in the passenger compartment to prevent mildew on the vinyl. |

Never had a mouse in my car. I use bounce dryer sheets. |

If you have a non a/c car,put the heat control to the hot position.This will cause the air bypass doors to close and mice will be prevented from cralwing though the heater box because of the heater core. |

You could try a cat, or a snake. A snake would fit in the vent system better. |

Shaker223: Never had a mouse in my car. I use bounce dryer sheets. I have been told by several other old car enthusiasts that store their cars over winter to use Bounce Dryer sheets to keep the mice out. I have not tried this method, but the Bouncers swear by it. I have had mice set up house keeping in my LeBaron Convertible off and on over the years. I haven’t ever tried to plug, or cover any openings that may provide access to the interior, hard to do on a rag top. However, I all ways like to take a rat to lunch during the winter months by supplying several portions of D-Con around the garage located away from the car. This seems to keep them eating and croaking before they can set up house keeping. The problem years were when I forgot to place De-Con around. |

Yes Shaker223 is correct on the Bounce dryer sheets as I been using them for over 6 years and they work. Also I been using Irish Spring soap the green bars and it works to. Can buy them cheap if buy the 8 pack. Bill |

I have used the soap-dryer sheet combo in all my cars/motorcycles. And it works just fine!!! But you want to use the smelliest soap and dryer sheets you can find. I use the sheets (brand) from wallmart and Zest soap. The first month I leave the soap and sheets every place in the car. The 2nd month I cut up the soap (to get the smell), and move it around in the car(different spots) and every month just keep cutting up the soap and putting in new sheets in the car. You want to keep the smell up high. Last year I did one car with just leaving every thing in one spot and I did get some or just one critter in it. And they ate the soap bars!!!!!!! this was inside the shop. Also put steel-wool on top of the wheels, this keeps them out also. If you have a Big problem with critters you could get vials of coyote urine from trailer shops and hang this stuff around on the out-side of the car and inside of the building that the car is in. They(critters) smell the urine and think that they are around and run!! I used this stuff when we had a RV. It was the best. |
