| Post subject: | 276 Mopar Perf. Cam , Which springs? |
I have a Mopar Performance camshaft part # P4286681 with the following data: Duration 276-276 @50 214-214 Valve lift .490 - .490 (1,5 rocker ratio) .523- .523 (1,6 rocker ratio) Intake opens 34º - Intake close 62º - Exh. opens 66º - Exh. Close 30º Overlap 64º Centerline 106 (instaled 104º) Mopar performance recomerecommendse of this spring / spring retainer / Valve seals with the specified camshaft: Spring retainer # P4452033 (Crome chromeretainers) Race Valve Seals # P3690963 1st. Choice: Spring part # P4120249 (Instalation height 1,67" / 1,70" - Single Damper - O.Diameter 1,50 - Wire diameter 2,06 - Lift ramge range/ .500) Or 2nd. Choice: Spring part # P3412068 (Instalation height 1,68" / 1,70" - Dual Damper - O.Diameter 1,46 - Wire diameter 1,91 - Lift ramge range/ .620) I don't have the pressure for each spring, but: - Is anyone running with any of this set ups? - Has anyone replaced the MP spring for other brand? - For the lift range point of view I'd rather go with the P3412068 springs, since I want to go to 1,6 rockers, but I'm under the impression that this springs as HARD ... Any imput on this will be much appreciated!!! |

What is you target "redline" or shift point RPM? DD |

Doc, My shiftpoint will be at 6000rpm and the redline around 6500 rpm with a 0,40 overbore, very long rod 7,3" = 185,2mm, fully race balanced. That is what I'm aiming to, this rods in my country are very used for the Slant Six in modified circuits racing with success, so I know the shiftpoint is realistic. |

You may want to take a look at the links from this post. Those 7.3" rods sound interesting! Are they a custom rod, or from another engine? |

Not custom, this are from another Inline 6 engine from other brand, the car's name is Torino manufactured by Industrias Kaiser Argentina and later by Renault Argentina. Once I have all my good stuff together and before starting I'll do a post with all the information for my new rebuild, including this rods so I can get all your comments on it!!! |

Did you have to modify the rods at all to fit the slant crank journals or the piston pin diameter ? did you have to notch the block at all, seeing is believing, so post up some pics man !!!! -Mike |

OK, here are some pictures of a side-by-side Ika vs. Dodge piston+rod assembly from Martin Chymale's engine. This are the best pictures I could find foyou to check the difference. I'll get all the meassures from the Ika rod as long as all the messures of the piston latter. You could use something like Photobucket that doesn't pop up adult web sites. Photobucket even gives you the image code to cut and paste. |
