Does anyone know the weight of a 225 block and head..... i'm designing a dragster and weight will be important issue. I have a forged crank, and it weighs about 83 lbs....but i'm cutting it down to about 65 lbs. Mike Chilando |

Mike, There is some variation with years. 83 lbs must be an early crank. The later ones (post 63?) are about 76 lbs to start with, and the late cast cranks can be as little as 59 lbs. Early "3 freeze plug" blocks are around 160 lbs, 5 plug forged crank blocks are around 165-170 lbs, 80s cast crank blocks are more like 145-155 depending on year. Heads: The 74-down "drool tube" heads are around 65-70 lbs assembled. '75-79 peanut plug heads are 70-75 lbs, and 80s heads are around 70 lbs dressed. Hope this helps, Lou |

Just for reference my /6 rail came out at 1400# without me. I could have maybe saved 100 perhaps. it was 20# heavy to the right hand side. I could have prevented that by installing the battery on the left but never thought about it till it was done. Don |
