The variable-speed wipers are ailing in my '64 Dart. They operate too slowly, and the circuit breaker cuts out intermittently shortly after I switch them on. Clearly something's drawing too much current; got a faulty motor and/or switch. I have another motor to put in, and another switch, though the switch is from a '66 and is different from the '64 switch. The '66 switch body is bigger and bulkier, and it doesn't have an arm coming off the back holding an external circuit breaker like the '64 switch does. I find all the same terminal labelling on the '66 switch as on the '64 with one exception. I have a '64 FSM, but not a '66. Could some kind soul please scan the '66 service manual info/diagrams/terminal designation chart for the variable-speed A-body wiper switch and motor? Thanks! |

What about a 65 FSM? |

I actually spent some time poring over the diagrams for '64, '65, and '66 (from mymopar.com) and it looks like the variable-speed wiper switch has seven wires connected to it in all three years. I'm having trouble determining where that external circuit breaker went after '64, though. It doesn't appear in '65 or '66. Built into the switch...? Located elsewhere in the line...? If you wouldn't mind checking what the '65 book has to say about windshield wiper circuit protection, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! |

It says the circuit breaker is built into the switch. |

…and now thanks to Emsvitil's kindness, I have my answer from the '65 FSM: Starting in '65 the circuit breaker is built into the switch body. Thanks! |
