The heater core seems to be dripping antifreeze in the passenger compartment of my 1965 valiant.

Would I just remove the core and take it to a radiator shop for repair?

Do I remove it from within the passenger compartment or are there things on the engine side of the firewall that need to be done as well?

Get a new core, not that expensive. You can unhook 1 heater hose from the fire wall and loop it to the fitting (nipple) the other heater hose comes from and loop the other hose back to the firewall, this way you're bypassing the heatercore and can keep driving the vehicle untill you get the core replaced. Replace the core from inside the vehicle.
